Green Club

Learning Outcomes

  1. To increase pupil awareness of environmental issues and develop social and life skills
  2. To provide opportunities  for pupils to become directly involved in a variety of projects relating to  the environment

CCA Programme

Themes of Activities conducted at Green Club include:

  • Green Fingers, Green Gardens
  • Water conservation
  • Biodiversity (appreciate nature’s vast variety of species and ecosystems)
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Energy Conservation
  • Anti-Littering Campaign
  • Primary Science Activity Card

 

Learning journeys will also be organised to the nature reserves in Singapore such as Sungei Buloh and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Term 1

Pupils to work on thematic environment projects on:

  • Recycling – recycling of tetra parks and plastic bottles in the canteen
  • CARE –  to promote the culture of ‘Clean and Ready Every time’

Term 2

Pupils to work on thematic environment projects on:

  • Global Warming
  • Energy conservation (in conjunction with Earth Hour and Earth Week)

Term 3

Pupils to work on thematic environment projects on:

Waste minimization

  • introduction of composting
  • 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle)
  • promote recycling of old newspapers and old clothing
    (collaborate with Tiong Huat Heng Recycling)

Litter Free environment

  • ill effects of littering
  • how Singapore manage household and industrial waste (eg incineration plants)
  • engage entire school to work to become a Litter Free school

Term 4

Pupils to work on thematic environment projects such as :

  • community outreach to a kindergarten in Toa Payoh

Initiatives /Projects:

Raised awareness of recycling in the canteen by creating CARE cards to promote the  culture of ‘Clean and Ready Every time’ in the school. These cards are displayed in the canteen.
